Cosmetic Dentist in Hornsby

Cosmetic dentistry at Hornsby Dental

What is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic dental treatment is elective. Whether a procedure is appropriate depends on oral health, medical history and individual needs. A consultation can help you consider potential benefits, risks, limitations and alternatives, including no cosmetic treatment.

Whitening may lighten natural teeth, but the degree and duration of colour change vary. Gum contouring changes gum tissue and may require other treatment; assessment is needed to understand the cause of gum display and whether treatment is appropriate.

Braces and clear aligners move teeth in suitable cases. Treatment can cause discomfort and requires review and ongoing retention. Some planned movements may not be achieved.

Veneers cover the front surfaces of selected teeth. Preparation varies, any enamel removal is irreversible, and maintenance, repair or replacement may be needed. To discuss dental treatment options at Hornsby Dental, book a consultation on (02) 8090 1100.

What is a Smile Makeover?

A smile makeover is a term used for an individually planned combination of dental treatments. Suitability, alternatives, limitations and risks depend on the person’s oral health and the procedures being considered.

How Much Does a Smile Makeover Cost?

Depending on your teeth makeover treatment plan, here are some cosmetic dentistry costs for different cosmetic dental services.

Take-home whitening is priced at $449 and in-chair whitening at $549. Results and treatment times vary between people and methods. Your clinician will assess suitability and explain the prescribed product, application instructions, risks and limitations. Neither method guarantees a particular shade or result.

Dental veneers may change the shape, size or colour of selected teeth, but are not suitable for everyone. Assessment is needed to discuss preparation, risks, maintenance and alternatives. There are two types of dental veneers offered by our cosmetic dentist; composite veneer from $700 per tooth (payment plans from $40/week) with interest free payment plan and porcelain veneer from $1,490 per tooth (payment plans from $57/week) with interest free payment plan.

For patients with a missing tooth, dental implant is an option to replace the tooth without using the neighbouring teeth. This stand alone treatment uses the dental implant to merge with the patient’s jaw and later placing a crown on top. The cost for a dental implant at Hornsby Dental ranges from $4,500 to $6,500 (simple posterior implant, no graft), with payment plans from $30/week.

An invisible way of achieving straight teeth is Invisalign. Using aligners to shift your teeth into position and fixing the patient’s bite. The cost for our Invisalign ranges from $4,200 to $8,990.

Whitening, Bonding or Veneers? Choosing the Right Cosmetic Treatment

Cosmetic treatment is elective. An assessment can help establish whether any treatment is suitable and explain the options, including no cosmetic treatment. Read treatment risks, recovery and alternatives.

  • Colour only: if your teeth are healthy and well shaped but stained or yellowed, teeth whitening is usually the first step, from $449 for a take-home kit. Whitening doesn’t change the colour of fillings, crowns or veneers.
  • Small chips, gaps or uneven edges: composite veneers or bonding add tooth-coloured resin directly to the teeth, often in one visit and with little or no tooth reduction, from $700 per tooth.
  • Colour, shape and alignment together: porcelain veneers are custom-made shells crafted by our in-house ceramists, from $1,490 per tooth. Porcelain and composite differ in their material properties, repair options and maintenance. Their suitability and longevity vary by case.
  • Crooked teeth: Invisalign or other orthodontic treatment can straighten teeth before any cosmetic work, which sometimes means fewer veneers are needed.

Many smile makeovers combine two or more of these. Your dentist will explain the options, risks and costs of each before you decide.
