Clear Aligners in Hornsby

Clear Aligner Options at Hornsby Dental

Hornsby Dental, on Edgeworth David Avenue, offers three clear aligner systems for patients across Hornsby and the Upper North Shore: Invisalign, Spark and Angel Aligner. Each straightens teeth gradually with a series of removable, custom-made trays.

Aligners are not right for every case. We assess your teeth, gums and bite at a complimentary consultation first, and tell you if braces or a specialist orthodontist would be the better route.

What Are Clear Aligners?

You may also hear them called clear braces, invisible aligners or transparent aligners. Your trays are made from an iTero digital scan of your teeth, and each set is worn for one to two weeks before you move to the next, as your dentist directs.

For aligners to work, they need to be worn most of the day, usually 20 to 22 hours. You take them out to eat, to drink anything except plain water, and to brush and floss.

They are less noticeable than metal braces but not invisible. Tooth-coloured attachments are often bonded to some teeth, and the trays can be seen up close.

Concerns Clear Aligners May Treat

Depending on your assessment, clear aligners may help with:

  • crowded or crooked teeth
  • gaps between teeth
  • some overbite, underbite and crossbite concerns
  • teeth that have moved after previous braces

More complex bite or jaw problems may need fixed braces or a specialist referral. Our orthodontics page explains the other options at Hornsby Dental.

Invisalign vs Spark vs Angel Aligner

All three systems move teeth the same way. What differs is the company behind them, the tray material and the planning software. We recommend a system after your assessment and explain why.

Should I Choose Aligners or Braces?

Fixed braces stay on your teeth throughout treatment. They can suit complex tooth movements and do not depend on remembering to wear an appliance.

Aligners come out for meals and cleaning, which many adults and teens find easier to live with. Because they are removable, results depend on wearing them as prescribed. We will explain which approach suits your case.

Clear Aligner Treatment at Hornsby Dental

  1. Complimentary consultation. We examine your teeth, gums and bite, take x-rays if needed and talk through your goals and options, including braces or no treatment.
  2. iTero scan and photos. These records are used to design your aligners.
  3. Plan review. You see a 3D simulation of the planned movement. It is a planning aid, not a guaranteed result. You receive a written estimate before you decide.
  4. Wearing your trays. You change trays as directed and attend regular reviews.
  5. Retainers. Retainers help keep your teeth in place after treatment.
