Hornsby Dental, on Edgeworth David Avenue, offers three clear aligner systems for patients across Hornsby and the Upper North Shore: Invisalign, Spark and Angel Aligner. Each straightens teeth gradually with a series of removable, custom-made trays.
Aligners are not right for every case. We assess your teeth, gums and bite at a complimentary consultation first, and tell you if braces or a specialist orthodontist would be the better route.
You may also hear them called clear braces, invisible aligners or transparent aligners. Your trays are made from an iTero digital scan of your teeth, and each set is worn for one to two weeks before you move to the next, as your dentist directs.
For aligners to work, they need to be worn most of the day, usually 20 to 22 hours. You take them out to eat, to drink anything except plain water, and to brush and floss.
They are less noticeable than metal braces but not invisible. Tooth-coloured attachments are often bonded to some teeth, and the trays can be seen up close.
Depending on your assessment, clear aligners may help with:
More complex bite or jaw problems may need fixed braces or a specialist referral. Our orthodontics page explains the other options at Hornsby Dental.
All three systems move teeth the same way. What differs is the company behind them, the tray material and the planning software. We recommend a system after your assessment and explain why.

Fixed braces stay on your teeth throughout treatment. They can suit complex tooth movements and do not depend on remembering to wear an appliance.
Aligners come out for meals and cleaning, which many adults and teens find easier to live with. Because they are removable, results depend on wearing them as prescribed. We will explain which approach suits your case.
Our current price guide estimates Invisalign treatment at $4,200 to $8,990 and Spark or Angel Aligner treatment at $3,700 to $8,490. Where you fall within each range depends on how much movement is needed, the number of aligners and whether refinements are required.
Your first clear aligner consultation is complimentary. Interest-free payment plans are available through external providers, subject to approval. Hornsby Dental is a Medibank provider, and some extras policies with orthodontic cover contribute to aligner treatment, so check with your fund. See also our Invisalign package.
