Full & Partial Dentures

Missing teeth can make it harder to eat, speak and smile with confidence. At Hornsby Dental, 3 minutes from Hornsby Station, we make custom full and partial dentures designed to fit comfortably and look natural.

Full and partial dentures

Full dentures

Full (complete) dentures replace all the teeth in the upper or lower jaw. They rest on the gums and are custom-made to fit the shape of your mouth.

Partial dentures

Partial dentures replace one or several missing teeth when you still have some natural teeth. They clip onto your remaining teeth and fill the gaps, which also helps stop neighbouring teeth from drifting.

How much do dentures cost?

Full and partial dentures range from $800 to $2,800. The price depends mainly on the material used and how many teeth are being replaced. Your dentist will give you a written quote after an examination. See our price list. We accept all major health funds with on-the-spot claiming through HICAPS – see health funds – and interest-free payment plans are available.

What to expect

  1. Consultation and examination – we check your mouth, gums and any remaining teeth and talk through your options.
  2. Impressions and measurements – we record the shape of your mouth and your bite so the denture fits properly.
  3. Try-in – you see and test the look and fit before the denture is finished.
  4. Fitting – we fit your new denture and show you how to wear and clean it.
  5. Review and adjustments – new dentures often need small adjustments for comfort in the first few weeks.

Alternatives to dentures

If you would prefer a fixed option, dental implants, a dental bridge or all-teeth-on-implants may be suitable. We’ll explain the pros and cons of each at your consultation.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get used to dentures?

Most people take a few weeks to adjust to speaking and eating with new dentures. Start with soft foods cut into small pieces, and let us know if anything rubs or feels loose.

How long do dentures last?

With good care, dentures last several years. Your mouth changes shape over time, so dentures may need to be relined or replaced to keep fitting well. Regular check-ups help us spot this early.

How do I look after my dentures?

Brush them daily with a soft brush, take them out at night, keep them in water when you’re not wearing them, and bring them to your regular check-ups.

Can you repair or reline my existing dentures?

Talk to us about any problems with your current dentures – we’ll check the fit and let you know whether an adjustment, reline or new denture is the best option.
