Before your appointment
Over-the-counter pain relief such as ibuprofen or paracetamol can help. Follow the dose on the packet and tell us what you’ve taken. A cold compress on the cheek can reduce swelling. Don’t put aspirin directly on the gum.
Frequently asked questions
Can I see a dentist today?
Often, yes. Call (02) 8090 1100 as early as you can. We keep time aside for urgent appointments and will tell you the earliest time we can see you.
Are you open on Saturdays for emergencies?
Yes. We’re open Saturday 8:30am–4pm. On Sundays, call healthdirect on 1800 022 222 for advice, or 000 for severe swelling, trouble breathing or a serious injury.
How much does an emergency visit cost?
It depends on what you need. Fillings are $170–$550, extractions $200–$600 and root canal treatment $800–$2,500. We quote before treating and claim on the spot with HICAPS.
What should I do with a knocked-out adult tooth?
Hold it by the crown, not the root. If it’s dirty, rinse it briefly in milk. Try to put it back in the socket and bite gently on a clean cloth, or keep it in milk, and call us straight away. Don’t put a baby tooth back.
Is there parking?
Yes. There’s free street parking near Edgeworth David Avenue, and we’re about three minutes’ walk from Hornsby Station.
